Stayed up way too late last night to see the Packers-Vikings game. It turned out to be everything it was billed to be. I used to like Bret Favre - "fan" would be too strong a term - and how he was able to go so many consecutive starts and all those other records we were constantly being reminded of all night long. But when he did the retirement waffles, I kinda got tired of him. My problem last night was I don't like either of those teams. As you know, a good true football fan will find something on one team or another to identify with, even if it's only temporarily. Like, I could root for the Vikings because of Adrian Peterson, born in Palestine - and site of my first Texas radio job (we just overlook the Oklahoma part of his resume). Or I could root for The Pack, just as a comeuppance to Favre. Either way, it's kinda like rooting for Texas. I just can't do it under any circumstances. Besides, I hope Da Bears whip 'em both. But that was a great game, even with the inevitable idiotic questions asked by the field reporters after the game ("How does it feel?" "Was it a REVENGE game?", "Blah, blah and blah"). The NFL Commissioner should ban any interviews right after the game. The guys don't get a chance to savor the victory themselves before being asked to share their "feelings". Other than that I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
Today we learned the best thing you can take to prevent Swine Flu (or H1N1 as it has been more politically correctly renamed) is...water. Well, okay, maybe the best thing you could take is vaccine, but that's not available right now nor as easily accessible.
Congratulations to Janice Cochran, the latest winner of $98.30 and chance to go to the CMA Awards show in Nashville in November where our Grand Prize Winner will get preferred seating right behind the tall, fat guy in the cowboy hat!
